In October 2022, Raynier granted $650,000 to Pacific Public Media towards their KNKX Next Campaign in Seattle and for the naming rights of the Jazz Lounge space in their name home. KNKX will move its existing Seattle studios from the Belltown neighborhood to the heart of the city, neighboring Pike Place Market and overlooking the redeveloped waterfront. The new studio will be 1,500 SF larger (7,883 SF total) than the current location, enabling an expansion of the station’s jazz, blues and news programming, and educational offerings.
The new home will include a performance space (“Studio X”) and adjacent living room (the “Jazz Lounge”) that will accommodate up to 150 people and will host live jazz and blues performances and civic conversations about important, local issues. These spaces will also host music and storytelling workshops for students. The central location will provide new opportunities to partner with nearby organizations such as the Friends of the Waterfront, the Seattle Aquarium and the Pike Place Market.
